We’re expanding our sales team and are currently hiring for the position of Director of Sales and Marketing. The ideal candidate will have background in sales and finance, and work closely with our other team members to better serve our customers. Check out the full details of the position below:

The Position - Director of Sales and Marketing

As the Director of Sales and Marketing, you will have the opportunity to bring your technology, sales and marketing experience to build a successful global sales strategy for this established software provider. TheTaxGroup is at a key expansion stage and needs a person to grow our sales. You will be responsible for coordinating the sale and promotion of theTaxGroup’s suite of software products to a wide market, including Alberta, Canada and the United States. You will work closely with potential and current clients to form and preserve prosperous relationships. In particular, you will work with our large software partner to collaborate on joint sales opportunities. You will also build and maintain a successful strategy to boost awareness and knowledge of our products and services. As the right candidate, you will be excited about change, passionate about using technology to improve financial functions, and have the chance to grow in a role that will develop into something special. We’re looking for someone who will work to succeed at accomplishing theTaxGroup’s number one goal: to build relationships to expand our customer base by making sure we’re in contact with the decision makers at those organizations.


Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy: Work to identify product enhancement options that help differentiate and grow the overall market segment. This includes market sizing, whitespace analysis, competitive investigation, partners, complementary offerings, client discussions, and revenue tracking. This intelligence will be applied to support and influence product strategy.

  • Marketing: Work with Communications Coordinator and continue to implement and expand marketing strategy.

  • Sales Leadership: As we gain sales traction, build and organize a sales team into an efficient unit and leverage our software partnership to expand to larger markets.

  • Sales Execution: Create, implement and sustain a sales pipeline, while meeting or exceeding your assigned sales targets, initially by participating in direct sales activity.

  • Customer Relations: Responsible for the management of accounts including the entire sales process from business development prospecting and specifications through contract negotiations, signing, and post-sales support.


Qualifications

  • Over 5 years’ experience leading a sales team.

  • Over 10 years’ experience in finance/accounting practices and processes.

  • Minimum 5 years of successful Canadian public sector software sales/solution experience with consistent track record. Data integration and/or application integration, database, data governance, cloud sales experience preferred.

  • Post-secondary education preferably in Finance and/or Accounting.

  • Accounting or other relevant professional designation or commensurate experience.

  • Exposure to income taxation in mid-sized to large organizations an asset.

  • MS Excel fluency and ability to handle and adapt to new technology.

  • Proven success in taking a product to market and/or increasing market penetration.

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate self-confidence, initiative, perseverance and integrity.

  • Achieves a high level of accuracy with effective self-review and critical analysis techniques.
